My Review
A true page turner. Whenever there is a child involved, the interest factor increases. Add an innocent woman trapped with a bunch of thieves and a furious, fretful mother. The plot explodes with the hazards of a chase through the mountains and a race against time.
Beller’s books never fail to place the reader in the thick of the wilderness and the mountain hardships. Yet, the beauty and majesty, as well as the settlers of the past, are evident and a draw for the reader. She takes me on journeys I would never have attempted (I don’t think so) through the rugged, uncivilized terrain. I challenge the reader to explore and decide if the challenge is worth the sacrifice.
About the Author
After working for 13 years in the corporate world, 
Misty M. Beller (mistymbeller.com) is now the author of fourteen independently published Christian historical romance novels. Raised on a farm in South Carolina, she combines her love for Christian fiction and the simpler ranch life by writing historical novels that display God’s abundant love through the twists and turns in the lives of her characters. She lives outside Charlotte, North Carolina, is an active member of ACFW, and teaches regularly at conferences and writing groups on effective book marketing.

The Story Behind the Story: Love’s Mountain Quest
Love’s Mountain Quest was one of the hardest books I’ve ever written, even though I LOVE Isaac and Joanna and their story. What made this book so hard was the fact that I wrote most of the story during my third trimester of pregnancy with our son!
Our little Matthew is our fourth baby (and first boy), so I was VERY heavy with child during the last three months I carried him, and that was the time that I’d scheduled to write Love’s Mountain Quest. Needless to say, the words were not flowing very well. My creativity was as exhausted as the rest of me! I could see Isaac and Joanna’s story in my mind, but showing it for readers using real words was the hard part.
Thankfully, I have an amazing editor at Bethany House (waving at Jen Veilleux!) who helped me massage the first draft, pushing both me and the story to be the very best we could be. Unfortunately for her, the edits for this book were the first bit of writing I did after taking a short maternity leave after the birth, so my brain was still a bit mushy from all the post-partum hormones and lack of sleep a newborn always brings. Jen’s patience through the process was remarkable, yet I so appreciate her determination not to stop until we had the very best book possible.
Our little Matthew just turned one, and Love’s Mountain Quest is finally making its way out into the world. Because of Jen, I’m so excited to share it with you! I can’t wait for you to meet the characters and story I love so much.

This is the third time I’ve joined National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)! I’ve wanted to see how many hours a day I need to write to complete 50,000 words which is the length of a novella. There is a reason for this as I determine my next writing endeavor. I have an idea for a novella series that I will begin next month. For this I’m also considering a time split option. I’m not ready to reveal any more information at this time. I just know it will be fun to research and write something new.
My other summer projects include painting rooms in a flip house and working in and expanding my garden.
In my family, JULY has always been a month to celebrate. We start with July 4th celebrating our nation and freedoms. Then it moves steadily into a stream of celebrations. As a child, I loved it. Not only do I have a birthday in July, but it is/was/shall be cake month at our family gatherings.
My father has to share his birthday on July 14 with Bastille Day–the national patriotic day of France. My greeting to him for many years has been “Happy Bastille Day. Oh, and your birthday!” My sister’s birthday follows three days later and mine a week after that. My mother made homemade cakes for each birthday! What a fun month.

July is here, and I’m so excited about summer camp. Well, a different kind of camp. I’m participating in the NaNoWriMo Camp where I join other authors on a vigorous journey through the writing world, the highs and lows, the ravines and hills, and hopefully a mountain or two. Each camper has his/her own goal. Mine is a rigorous 50,000 words–new words.
I will post my progress occasionally. As of this moment, I’ve written 2210 words! Woo Hoo! But it is a start, right?
