About the Book

Book: Hashtag RogueHashtag Rogue Cover - sm

Author: Chautona Havig

Genre: Fiction / Contemporary / Suspense

Release Date: August 20, 2019

Something is terribly wrong in The Agency. Again.

Flynne Dortmann: computer specialist extraordinaire. The right arm of every agent in The Agency. And totally untrained for agent duty.

So when no one takes a threat seriously, Flynne does the only thing she can think of.

With money she has no authorization to use, a gun she’s never fired in her hip pocket, and more zip-ties than any agent should be allowed to carry, Flynne takes on protective detail for an unwilling client. #Rogue.

Mark Cho hasn’t had a chance to get used to being Marco Mendina—head of the Eastern US Agency. Not only that, every sign points to someone knowing he isn’t who he appears to be. His agency is in trouble.  His agents may be in danger, and with an office girl gone rogue, deciding what problem to tackle first is a problem in itself.

Not to mention, he misses his office assistant with her emoji-speak, killer tech skills, and sharp instincts.

My Review

I’m probably considered behind the times since I do not tweet. I have never “hashtagged” anything, yet here I am reading a book entitled Hashtag Rogue. One of the reasons I read for pleasure is to learn something new. That is what I did with this book. The jargon or “foreign” language surrounding Flynn, a major character, made my mind expand as I deciphered the new words. I felt better when a few of the characters questioned Flynn’s verbal meaning too.

I’ve read many of Chautona Havig’s books and I always come away smiling, having learned something interesting. She amazes me with her vast knowledge of many areas. Although I enjoyed this book, I’m sticking with my choice of not having a twitter account!

About the Author

Chautona Havig lives in an oxymoron, escapes into imaginary worlds that look Chautonastartlingly similar to ours and writes the stories that emerge. An irrepressible optimist, Chautona sees everything through a kaleidoscope of It’s a Wonderful Life sprinkled with fairy tales. Find her on the web and say howdy—if you can remember how to spell her name.

My TBR for the Fall

IMG_2241Well, I’m ready for fall, and I have the books to read. If only I had a cool breeze and a reason to fix a cup of hot chocolate. But, I can’t wait for the weather to change in order to start these new books. As always I have so many to choose from, and I keep ordering more.

IMG_2234The first one is A Light on the Hill by Connilyn Cossette. I’ve already read the second one in the series. This is Biblical fiction about a Levitical city of refuge. What a great way to contemplate what might have happened in the time of Joshua and tribes of Israel.

I am the oldest of four sisters, so this title fascinated me. 12 Sisters who Changed History. Amber D. Schamel offers six stories exploring the lives of 12 women who found their places in history.

Kellyn Roth is a young author. Her Chronicles of Alice and Ivy Book 2 is Ivy Introspective about a girl sent to a boarding school far from home. I enjoyed Book 1 too.

A long-lost cousin appears in Ryan’s life opening up questions about the past. Is it true that Christmas is a time for miracles? Miracle on Maple Street is written by Linda Rondeau.

1813 England. In the Shadow of Croft Towers by Abigail Wilson secrets and their uncovering drive the characters to seek answers. Murderers, smugglers, and spies, oh my!

Contemporary fiction, Snow out of Season by Christy Brunke is about two pregnant women separated by time and somehow they are connected. But how?

I love a princess story. Lady Airell’s Choice by Rachel Skatvold satisfies my princess search in this medieval romance. 1187 A.D.

There it is. What will you be reading this fall? Share below so others can find a good book or two.

Importance of Community: Family and Friends

This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man that this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”               John 15: 12-13

IMG_5955

I have always been surrounded by family: a house full of sisters, grandparents not far away, then my own children and husband. With three sisters now married with children, our gatherings at special occasions consist of lots of relatives. I love it! For the majority of my adult life, I’ve lived a few hours away from my parents and siblings. The time together seemed so short but packed full of memories. I’ve been blessed with my large family. Today, I’m still hours from my sisters, yet I’m only a few hundred yards from my parents. I love it!

IMG_0699Family, and friends, form an important circle around my life, encouraging me with love and support. The bond is firm, strong, and unwavering, one I can’t imagine living without. Through the years friends have come and gone, leaving me now with the ones to see me through the rest of my life.

I enjoy my community of family and friends. Even when I am alone, I know I have the love of many who challenge me not to give up, to face my days with hope and courage.  Even though blessed with a close family and a few dedicated friends, I know God is always with me giving me my community of family and friends.

070.JPGI hope you have your own community of family and friends. God’s blessings!

My Review

1398 England—What a frightful time to live! Would you want to live in a castle fighting for your life? I find this time fascinating as the people struggle with protecting their lives, securing food and sanitary conditions, deciphering God’s plan and God’s word. Debbie Costello maneuvers her characters through a barrage of events that challenge their precarious positions in society and basic level of relationship with God. God is still present in their world of swords and battles. Sometimes, as with us, the battle is against God. The lessons we learn over and over—to forgive, to trust, to love—abound even in the 14th century. Life lessons that must be revisited for our present time too. Hold on as the characters present challenges that we might be experiencing right now—minus the swords.

Debbie Lynne Costello is the author of Sword of Forgiveness, Amazon’s #1 seller for Historical Christian Romance. She has enjoyed writing stories since she was eight years old. She raised her family and then embarked on her own career of writing the stories that had been begging to be told.
